Tire Maintenance – More Than Just Checking Tire Pressure
Tires are the only part of the car that comes into contact with the ground, which is related to driving safety. Their maintenance needs to focus on three key points: tire pressure, wear, and rotation. In terms of tire pressure, it should be checked once a month, especially during seasonal changes (temperature changes will affect tire pressure). Too high tire pressure will lead to reduced tire grip and uneven wear, while too low tire pressure will increase fuel consumption and accelerate sidewall aging. It should be adjusted according to the standard tire pressure marked on the B-pillar of the door, and never judged by feeling. For wear, focus on the tread pattern. When the pattern thickness is less than 1.6mm (the wear indicator is exposed), the tire must be replaced; at the same time, check whether the tread has bulges, cracks, nails, or other damages. Bulged tires have the risk of blowout and need to be replaced immediately. In addition, it is recommended to rotate the tires every 10,000 kilometers and swap the front and rear tire positions to avoid uneven tire wear caused by uneven vehicle center of gravity distribution and extend the tire service life.
