Cooling System Maintenance – Prevent Engine Overheating

The core function of the cooling system is to cool the engine and avoid engine overheating. Its maintenance focus is on antifreeze and radiator. Antifreeze is recommended to be replaced every 2 years or 40,000-60,000 kilometers. Antifreeze of different brands and models cannot be mixed to avoid chemical reactions and corrosion of cooling system components. When replacing antifreeze, the old antifreeze must be completely drained, and then new antifreeze should be added to ensure no air remains in the cooling system. Secondly, clean the radiator (water tank) regularly. The surface of the radiator is prone to accumulate dust, catkins, and other debris, blocking the cooling fins and affecting the heat dissipation effect. It is recommended to clean it once every six months, which can be rinsed from the inside out with a high-pressure water gun (avoid reverse flushing to damage the cooling fins). In addition, during daily driving, regularly check the antifreeze level. If the level is lower than the minimum scale line, add the same type of antifreeze in time. Do not directly add tap water (tap water contains impurities, which will produce scale and block the pipeline).
