Car Engine Oil Maintenance – Don’t Just Look at Mileage
Engine oil is the “blood” of a car’s engine, and its condition directly determines the engine’s service life. However, many car owners only use driving mileage as the sole criterion for changing engine oil, which is actually a misunderstanding. First of all, engine oil has a shelf life. Even if the vehicle is parked for a long time (more than 6 months), the engine oil will deteriorate due to oxidation, and its lubricating performance will drop sharply. At this time, it is recommended to change it regardless of the mileage. Secondly, different working conditions cause different oil loss. Frequent short-distance driving (less than 5 kilometers per trip), frequent starting and stopping, and long-term driving in high-temperature or dusty environments will accelerate engine oil aging, and the replacement cycle should be shortened by 10%-20%. In addition, you must strictly select the oil grade according to the vehicle manual. A higher grade is not necessarily better; adapting to the engine model is the key. At the same time, when changing the engine oil, be sure to replace the oil filter synchronously to avoid impurities in the old filter contaminating the new engine oil.
